BBC Antiques Roadshow [BAR I !]

is one of the most cherished TV programmes in the UK and one of the most interesting to Lorenzetti, who is know sorry for not having written for English-speaking readers for some time. Do they even exist?

In any case, L decided to select a number of art objects which have been shown at the Antiques Roadshow and place them here, enabling readers to access BBC's website in case they wish to know details or see the whole Antiques roadshow database.

L is aware of the bad side of BBC Antiques Roadshow: greedy owners who are ready to sell or buy everything that gives them some money as a result. However, the good side prevails: one is able to see objects which would be closed in private homes and not even in what is called proprietarily as a 'private collection'.

The first object L selected is a small one: pair or English Georgian tea caddies dated circa 1790 and made of partridge and fruit woods, which were valued for auction between £ 4,000 and £ 5,000.

Its is probable that many Georgian objects will be included in our selection, as this is one of the most outstanding periods in English furniture, joining 3 elements that L enjoys: functionality, sobriety and quality of the materials, especially woods.
